-
- Introduction.
-
- One of the most effective ways to play lotteries is to 'wheel' a
- set of numbers. Wheeling numbers involves playing a large
- selection of numbers, and combining them into bets which cover all
- or most of the possible combinations of numbers. For instance, if
- you are playing a pick-6 lottery, you may wish to play a number
- wheel with 10 numbers in it. By choosing your combinations of
- these 10 numbers carefully, you can guarantee that if your 10
- numbers contain 4, 5, or 6 of the numbers drawn, you will have at
- least one winning ticket, with as few as 3 bets (if all 6 numbers
- are among your 10-number wheel, a 4-number match can be guaranteed
- with 3 bets). Obviously, number wheels are a powerful tool for
- playing lotteries. Serious lotto players have known this for
- years. Unfortunately, setting up wheeling systems and
- incorporating them into your personal tracking and predicting
- schemes can be very tedious work. That's where your computer and
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL come in. LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL takes the drudgery
- and guesswork out of wheeling numbers, and lets you concentrate on
- more relaxing things, like planning how to spend your winnings.
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL is a companion program to LOTTO MAGIC. LOTTO
- MAGIC is a sophisticated lotto tracking/analyzing program which
- can increase your odds dramatically by applying proven
- mathematical and historical analysis techniques to your lotto
- history. Using LOTTO MAGIC to determine which numbers are more
- likely to be drawn, and including them in your wheel, can give you
- a decided edge in any lottery.
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL can also be run as a stand-alone program. It
- provides the most powerful and sophisticated wheeling selection
- techniques available, including :
-
- 1. Balanced sets
-
- 2. Odd/Even distribution
-
- 3. Special number range selection
-
- 4. King and Queen numbers (also called KEY numbers)
-
-
- Before we get into the operating instructions for LOTTO MAGIC
- WHEEL, we have to take care of some legal and business matters.

- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS.
-
- To run LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL you will need an IBM PC/XT/AT or
- compatible computer with at least 256K RAM. Monochrome, CGA, or
- EGA display adapters may be used. A hard disk is recommended, but
- not necessary to run the program.
-
- You will also need DOS version 2.1 or later.
-
- INSTALLING LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL ON HARD DISK SYSTEMS.
-
- To install the software on your hard disk, you simply need to
- create a subdirectory named WHEEL (you can choose any name you
- wish, of course) and copy all files from your distribution
- diskette into that subdirectory. i.e. -
-
- MD \WHEEL
- CD \WHEEL
- COPY A:*.* \WHEEL
-
- When complete, the following files should be in your WHEEL
- subdirectory :
- WHEEL.DOC
- WHEEL.EXE
- READ.ME
- 53 files ending with .BIN
-
- To run LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL, simply go to your \WHEEL subdirectory
- and type WHEEL.
-
-
- RUNNING LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL.
-
- TO run LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL, simply type 'wheel' at your DOS prompt.
- You will need the following files in your current directory :
- WHEEL.EXE - the actual program.
- All files that end with '.BIN' - wheel control files.
-
- The wheel control files contain the the actual wheel systems that
- the program uses to generate sets of numbers to be played in the
- lottery. You will notice that they have names like
- '6WHEEL12.BIN', etc. This means that it is a WHEEL control file
- for pick-6 lotteries, with 12 numbers in the wheel. Wheel control
- files are included for 5,6, and 7 number lottery drawings, with 8
- to 15 numbers per wheel. The distribution diskettes sent to
- registered users contain wheel control files for up to 25 numbers
- per wheel, but this requires multiple disks.
-
-
-
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL User Guide Page 6
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- These wheel control files are in a special binary format, and CAN
- NOT BE EDITTED. Do not attempt to read them with an editor or
- word processing program.
-
-
- RUNNING LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL ON FLOPPY-BASED SYSTEMS.
-
- It is best to run this program on systems with hard disks. The
- program can be run on a system with one or two floppies, however.
- If your system does not have a hard disk, the program may ask you
- to place the diskette containing the proper wheel control files
- into drive 'A' when it is needed.
-
- You should place all the wheel control files on separate
- diskettes, according to how many numbers are drawn in the lottery.
- I.e. - all wheel control files for pick-6 lotteries on one
- diskette, files for pick-7 lotteries on another, etc. The program
- will request the specific file that it is looking for.
-
-
- USING BIOS VIDEO CALLS.
-
- Some IBM PC compatibles are 'less compatible' than others. One of
- biggest problems with these 'nearly compatibles' is that the VIDEO
- DISPLAY MEMORY is not addressable in the same way that it is on
- the IBM PC. LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL uses very fast video techniques to
- make writing to the screen as quick as possible. Unfortunately,
- these techniques will not work correctly with these 'nearly
- compatible' computers.
-
- In order to allow LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL to run correctly on these
- machines, simply add /B to the command line when you run the
- program, and the BIOS screen update routines will be used instead
- of LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL's specialized routines.
-
- EXAMPLE : WHEEL /B *runs LMW with BIOS video calls
-
- WHEEL *runs LMW with FAST video calls
-
- **NOTE** :
- If you specify the /B option when running LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL, there
- will be a SIGNIFICANT decrease in speed when writing to your
- computer's display screen. Only use this option if LOTTO MAGIC
- WHEEL will not run in it's normal mode!
-
-
- THE SHAREWARE SCREEN.
-
- This is simply a title screen with copyright information and a
- shareware reminder. Press any key to continue the program.

-
- THE MAIN MENU.
-
- The first thing you will see is the MAIN MENU. Here are
- descriptions of each of the items on the menu.
-
-
- P - Set Game Parameters.
-
- Use this screen to tell LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL what kind of lotto game
- is being played, and how to wheel the numbers. The program
- expects you to provide the following information :
-
- 1. How many numbers do you choose in the game ?
- This means how many numbers do YOU choose when playing a game
- ticket. If your state draws 6 numbers plus a bonus number, but
- your ticket only shows 6 numbers, then enter a '6' here.
-
- 2. What is the lowest number in the lotto ?
- Usually, this is a '1'. It refers to the smallest number that
- can be drawn.
-
- 3. What is the largest number in the lotto ?
- This refers to the largest number that can be drawn. It may be
- 39, 40, 54, or 80, to name a few popular lotto formats.
-
- 4. How many numbers to wheel.
- Here you specify how many numbers will be used in the wheel.
- Valid entries are 8 to 15 numbers. Remember that the more numbers
- you wheel, the better your chances of winning, but also the number
- of combinations goes up very quickly. Scale the numbers in the
- wheel so that you are not betting more than you can afford. See
- the appendix for a list of how many combinations there are for
- various wheel sizes.
-
- 5. Special numbers to be played in every game.
- You may enter 1 or 2 numbers which LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL will make
- sure get played IN EVERY SET OF NUMBERS IT PRODUCES. Use this
- option only if you are SURE that a particular number or 2 are
- going to be drawn. (p.s. - you can never be totally sure, but you
- have to play your hunches sometimes!).
-
- Numbers that are played in every set are often referred to as
- King and Queen numbers. These numbers are not counted as part of
- the wheel. I.E. - if you specify you want to wheel 10 numbers,
- and then enter a 14 to be played in every game, then 10 other
- numbers will be wheeled and combined with the '14' to produce your
- betting combinations.
-
- 6. Other numbers to be included in the wheel.
- If you want to make sure that particular numbers get played in
- the wheel, enter up to 10 of them here. These numbers will be
-
-
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL User Guide Page 8
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- included in the normal combinations of the wheel, not necessarily
- played every game, as King and Queen numbers are. If you do not
- enter enough numbers to fill the wheel, LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL will
- choose random numbers to fill in the number wheel.
-
- For instance, if you are wheeling 10 numbers, and you enter a '13'
- in the 'Special numbers' area, then enter 5,6, and 20 here, you
- have supplied 3 of the 10 numbers, so LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL will
- choose 7 random numbers to complete the wheel.
-
-
- C - Set Select Criteria.
-
- This is a special menu. It allows you to tell LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL
- exactly what criteria you wish to impose on the number sets
- created. You can choose only odd numbers, or only even numbers,
- or any mix you like. You can make sure that at numbers within a
- certain range (like 1 to 12) are included in every set. You can
- even control whether the sum of the numbers ends in an odd or even
- number.
-
- This screen allows you to specify sets that :
-
- 1. Have at least __ odd numbers.
- You can specify that the sets chosen to be played have at least
- 1, 2, 3, etc. odd numbers in them. Or you can leave this field 0
- to indicate that you don't care how many odd numbers are played in
- each set.
-
- 2. Have at least __ even numbers.
- See above.
-
- 3. The sum of the numbers is in the range __ to __.
- When all of the numbers in the set are added together, their
- sum must fall within this range to be played. See the section on
- Number Balancing later for more information.
-
- 4. Have at least __ numbers in the range __ to __.
- There are 2 ranges that you can set. If you wish to have at
- least one number in the range 1 to 10 in every set, you would
- indicate that in this line.
-
- 5. The last digit of the sum is one of ...
- This is a special field, and should be used with care. You
- will see the digits 0 - 9 listed here. If you want to exclude all
- sets that generate an ODD SUM, you would replace the 1,3,5,7, and
- 9 with x's. Only sets that generate a sum whose last digit
- matches one of the ones shown here will be used.
-
- W - Wheel a set of numbers.
-
-
-
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL User Guide Page 9
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- Use this option to actually generate number sets to be played in
- the next lotto drawing. You will be shown the maximum number of
- sets that may be generated using the parameters enetred on the
- 'P'arameter screen. You may generate up to that number of sets to
- be played.
-
- Note that the maximum number of sets available for any wheel is
- 3000. This is done primarily for convenience, since the number of
- combinations in these wheels is so large. For example - an 18
- number wheel for a pick-7 lotto has 31,824 possible combinations.
- The wheel control file for that wheel system alone would have been
- over 150K if we didn't limit the number of combinations. The
- wheels that are limited to 3000 combinations still represent an
- accurate wheel, since the combinations have been arranged to
- insure that every combination gets equal use throughout the wheel.
- In short, this means that whether you play 10 sets or 100 or 3000,
- the sets generated by these wheel control files provide you with
- the best possibilities for winners. See the appendix for a table
- of possible combinations using various wheeling systems.
-
- After you enter the number of sets to generate, the sets will be
- generated automatically. If LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL cannot create as
- many sets as you wish (possibly because of too restrictive
- selection criteriea), it will generate as many as it can.
-
- The numbers that have been used in the wheel will be shown on the
- first line of the data window. Generated number sets will be
- shown in the rest of the window. Note that only 40 sets will be
- shown at once. If you have generated more than 40 sets, you can
- display the sets one screen at a time. You may either print the
- screens one at a time, as they appear with the Print Screen key,
- or you may use your DOS print command to print the file
- 'PICKS.LM'.
-
- Each time you play a wheel, LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL writes a file named
- 'PICKS.LM' which contains all the bets generated by the program.
- It is this file that is checked when you choos 'Check for Winning
- Tickets' from the Main Menu. You may print this file, or rename
- it to save for future reference. Remember that the next time you
- run LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL the file will be overwritten, so if you wish
- to save the file, you should copy it or rename it to something
- besides PICKS.LM .
-
- After the sets have been displayed, pressing any key will return
- you to the MAIN MENU.
-
- Standard Systems -
- If you are playing a pick-6 lotto with no king and queen numbers,
- or a pick-7 lotto with just a king number, you may elect to use
- one of the 'standard' wheeling systems. You will be asked if you
- wish to use a standard system upon entering the 'WHEEL' screen,
-
-
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL User Guide Page 10
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- when LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL sees that your parameters qualify for a
- standard system. The standard systems are listed on your screen
- to choose from. They tell you how many numbers are in the wheel,
- what the win guarantee is, and how many sets you must play to
- fulfill the system. For example :
-
- System 1 : 8 number wheel, 4/4 guarantee, 8 bets
-
- This means that System 1 wheels 8 numbers. It gives you 8
- different combinations to be played, and if any 4 of the 6 numbers
- that are drawn are part of your 8-number wheel, you are guaranteed
- at least one 4 number winning ticket.
-
- Someof the systems gurantee a 4-number win if any 4 numbers in the
- wheel match, others guarantee a 5-number win if any 5 of the
- winning numbers are included in the wheel. Still other systems
- guarantee 4 or 5 number wins if 5 or 6 numbers are in the wheel.
-
- If you are playing a pick-7 game with a king number, then you must
- have matched 4 numbers in addition to your king number for the win
- guarantees.
-
-
- N - Check for winning tickets.
-
- When you predict the next drawing with LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL, a file
- is created on your disk called PICKS.LM . This file contains all
- the combinations produced by LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL. You may compare
- the numbers in the drawing against the combinations in PICKS.LM to
- determine how many winning tickets you hold. You will be asked for
- the winning numbers in the drawing. LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL will then
- compare those numbers with the combinations that LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL
- wrote to the file PICKS.LM, and the number of combinations with 0,
- 1, 2 etc. matches will be reported.
-
-
- S - Save current parameters to disk.
-
- Use this option to save the contents of the Parameters screen and
- the Selection Criteria screen to a disk file. Later you can
- 'L'oad this file to eliminate the need to configure those screens
- for your lottery.
-
- When you select this option, you will be asked to provide the file
- name to save the parameters in. Use the standard DOS file name
- conventions (1-8 character file name followed by 1-3 character
- extension i.e. 'param1.dat' ).
-
- You may save several configurations by specifying different names
- for each of the lotteries you play.
-
-
-
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL User Guide Page 11
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- L - Load parameters from disk file.
-
- Use this option to load parameters that you previously 'S'aved
- with the 'S'ave option. You will be asked to supply the name of
- the file to load. If you do not specify a file name, or if the
- file cannot be read, no parameters will be affected.
-
- Q - Quit.
-
- Returns you to DOS. ESCape also returns you DOS.
-
-
-
- NUMBER BALANCING.
-
- Many LOTTO players believe that using 'balanced' number sets
- produces more winning combinations in the drawings. The
- mathematics of this is very simple. The numbers in each drawing
- are added together, producing a sum. In a 6/40 LOTTO the mean
- (average) of these sums should be around 123. Most of the
- drawings in the game should fall very close to this number,
- theoretically. In fact, the majority of drawings will produce a
- sum which falls within a given range around this sum, which I will
- call the 'BALANCE RANGE'.
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL reports the balance range for the game being
- analyzed in the 'Select Criteria' screen. The balance range is
- computed from the parameters on the 'Set Parameters' screen.
-
- Note that the balance information is computed for the numbers you
- pick, not counting any bonus numbers. In other words, if your
- lottery is a pick-6 with a bonus number, the balance range will
- apply to combinations of 6 numbers in the 'Predict' screen, but
- the sum of the drawings will probably be higher than the balance
- range, because the bonus number is added in.
-
-
- Payoff guarantees for the normal wheel control files.
-
- If you do not choose to use one of the 'standard systems', the
- normal wheel control files are used to combine your wheel numbers
- into combinations for you to play. These control files have
- minimum win guarantees based on ALL the numbers in the drawing
- being part of your wheel.
-
- You will notice that wheel control files are included for 3,4,5,6,
- and 7 number games. LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL only supports pick-5, 6,
- and 7 games. The 3 and 4 number wheels are used when special
- numbers are played in every game (King and Queen numbers). For
- instance, if you play a pick-5 game with one special number played
- every game, and wheel 10 numbers : your 10 numbers will be wheeled
-
-
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC WHEEL User Guide Page 12
- ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- in sets of 4, and your KING number added to each set to produce
- your bet. That is the reason for including wheel control files
- for 3 and 4 number combinations. Refer to the following chart to
- see which wheel control file is used for various combinations :
-
- No special numbers King King and Queen
- ------------------ ------------ --------------
- Pick-5 | 5wheel**.bin 4wheel**.bin 3wheel**.bin
- Pick-6 | 6wheel**.bin 5wheel**.bin 4wheel**.bin
- Pick-7 | 7wheel**.bin 6wheel**.bin 5wheel**.bin
-
- Remember - the possibility of winning any prize, including the
- jackpot, is always present. These minimum win guarantees are just
- that - the minimum you could win if all the numbers in the drawing
- are included in your wheel.
-
- This listing is set up to show the minimum number of sets you must
- play to guarantee at least one match-3, match-4, match-5 or match-
- 6 prize (depending on whether you wheel 5,6, or 7 numbers.

- To read the chart - determine the type of lotto to be played, then
- read down that list until you find the line for the numbers in
- your wheel. The chart shows that wheeling 12 numbers in a Pick-6
- Lotto would generate 924 different combinations to be played.
-
- The formula for calculating the number of combinations is :
-
- A!
- --------
- B! * (A-B)!
-
- Where A is how many numbers are in the wheel, and B is how many
- numbers are played in the game. The '!' means the FACTORIAL of
- the number (4! = 4*3*2*1 ).
-
- Incidentally - this same formula may be used to calculate the odds
- in a standard Lotto game by substituting the highest number in the
- lotto for B (B becomes 40 in a 6-40 Lotto).

- Appendix : LOTTO MAGIC
-
-
- LOTTO MAGIC is a computer program which tracks the drawings for a
- lottery, providing historical information and predicting which
- numbers are likely to be drawn in the next drawing.
-
- LOTTO MAGIC was written with a specific purpose in mind - to beat
- the state lotteries. It can lower the odds against you in any
- lotto game in the world. Completely flexible and configurable, it
- adapts easily to 6/36 6/40 6/49 7/44 or any other lotto game
- definition available. There are no guarantees that you will win
- your lottery with this program, or with any other system, but
- exhaustive testing and realistic simulations have proven a 200% to
- 800% increase in winnings using LOTTO MAGIC.
-
- Using LOTTO MAGIC, you will maintain a database of all the
- drawings in your lottery. LOTTO MAGIC can break down the lottery
- to show you which numbers are drawn most frequently in a given
- month, which numbers are currently 'hot' numbers, which ones are
- due to be drawn based on statistical analysis, and the cycles or
- trends that the numbers tend to follow, and much, much more.
-
- By assigning weights to each number in the drawing, LOTTO MAGIC
- will predict which numbers are likely to be chosen in the next
- drawing. You have complete control over how the weighting is
- done, and can override LOTTO MAGIC's weight assignments to favor
- your own personal 'special' numbers. You can also specify
- 'personal favorites' which automatically receive extra weighting
- when predicting the next drawing.
-
- For your part, you must maintain the database by adding new
- entries as the drawings are held. The statistical analysis used
- by LOTTO MAGIC requires complete and accurate data, especially the
- most recent data. When you check the lotto drawings to see how
- much you have won, enter the information in LOTTO MAGIC, so that
- the next predictions can be as accurate as possible.
-
- LOTTO MAGIC can track the data for many lotteries simultaneously.
- Data is stored on disk files. By specifying the data file you
- wish to use, you can run LOTTO MAGIC for as many lottery games as
- you like.
-
- Hardware and Software requirements.
-
- LOTTO MAGIC will run on any IBM PC/XT/AT or compatible with
- monochrome, CGA, EGA or VGA graphics adapter. At least 256K of
- RAM is needed. Also, you must be running version 2.0 DOS, or
- later. A hard disk is recommended, but not necessary. A printer
